Victory would have been her 4th gold in her career and 6 medals in Olympic games. While Wust stood on the podium, she didn’t stand tall as her compatriot Jorien Ter Mors. Not only she lead Dutch sweep of the event, she did so in record breaking fashion.

  Speed Skating

The gold medal winner, smashed the record, and set the new standard 1.53.51 second, not one of her Dutch compatriot can match. Wust claims silver with Lotte Van Beek the bronze medal. The Netherlands took 4th place on the medal table on Sunday tightening on the Sochi games. In Speed skating competition certainly the Dutch claiming 16 medals on 24 in offer and winning 5 gold’s out off 8.

The Russian free style skier Maria Komissarova who fractured her spine in a ski cross training on Saturday does remain stable and serious condition. The 23 years old has gone 6 and half hours operation which was described as successful by her doctors. In the sign of gravity of the incident, Russian President Putin, on Saturday visited Miss Komissarova on her bedside to wish her well, her father also visited her from her home town St. Petersburg.
